mong the large number of songs he published, nearly all of them with music by renowned Uruguayan composers, the ones which still are remembered by popular audiences, because they are still hits, are the tangos "Cartas Viejas" with music by Manuel García Servetto and "¡Justo el 31!" which he co-wrote with Enrique Santos Discépolo, and when they were sung by Carlos Gardel were acclaimed in the River Plate area and Europe. (The latter was magnificently recorded by Alberto Vila).

He was in touch with Gardel for the first time at the café "Tupí Nambá" around 1929, when he was told by his collaborator Servetto that the latter was going to record his "Cartas Viejas". Time later, the singer was about to do the same with his tangos "La Última Carta" with music by Jaime Airaldi and "La Inocencia me Valga" with José Razzano’s music, but as the members of the duo split up those pieces were not committed to disc. We have to take into account that Razzano chose the repertoire of his longtime partner.

Among his nearly a hundred pieces, we remember: "Milonga de los Recuerdos", "¡Nada más que Vos!", "Dejála que Siga", "Payador", with the musical collaboration of Alfonso Fogaza, Arturo Senez and others.

He was president of the Asociación General de Autores del Uruguay (A.G.A.D.U.) at a very difficult period. During his management he encountered serious setbacks.

Ray Rada was born in Montevideo on January 7, 1900.
