e wrote the background music for the Hollywood early sound movies, among them Pagan Love Song of 1928, whose title song, “Pagan Love Song”, co-written with Nacio Herb Brown, was recorded by Carlos Gardel with Spanish lyrics translated by Luis Rubistein (“Amor pagano”).

He was president of the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts and Sciences of Hollywood in the 1966-67 period.

Freed was born in Charleston (South Carolina, USA) on September 9, 1894 and passed away in Hollywood on April 12, 1973.
