Rise of nationals
Tango on Internet
THE DANCING HAS JUST BEGUN
Magazine Internet SURF N°24, April 2000.
Although it still is hard to imagine one of those old tango fans with hat on and suit sitting in front of the computer, on Internet there are many pages devoted to tango as musical genre, as dance and, also, as aesthetic possibility, idiomatic source or concrete business. On them you can find information about its history, characters and the most important venues. Carlos Gardel is a figure that appears much, although (ay!) the good pages devoted to him are made in other countries. The same happens with the great Astor Piazzolla. Figures of the level of Julio Sosa or Roberto Goyeneche evidence an amazing absence on the Web, absence that these pages invite to repair.
TODO TANGO
www.todotango.com.ar
This site, that has been declared of national interest by the Government of the Nation, it is made by the Asociación Coleccionistas Porteños de Tango. The biographies of musicians, poets, singers and dancers are complete and are very well illustrated. This site has a good gallery of images, a complete catalog of lyrics and an unsurpassable section of sheet music. It includes a good special section devoted to Carlos Gardel, with chronicles, discographies and recordings. Every evening you can listen to a live radio program from this site.
