B.A.Tango Magazine

With the objective of making the best websites with Argentine material in Spanish language be known and with the purpose of promoting and emphasizing the growth of the use of new technologic tools the Matear Prize 1999 has been created.

It is an inactive of a group of organizations connected with the computing business, in which more than 350 sites enrolled to contest on different areas: Arts, Sciences, Sports, Education, History/Museums, Public Information, Games and hobbies, Communication media, Folklore and Tango, Tourism, etc.

The members of the board had into account the following features to select the best websites: creativity, originality, quality of information/contents, graphic design and interactivity/participation. All the winners of the thematic areas were awarded with a silver small statue and the winner of the category best website of the year, with a golden one.

The Matear de Oro prize (1999) was awarded to the site www.todotango.com.ar, of Coleccionistas Porteños de Tango, that won as well the Matear de Plata prize for the best site in the Tango and Folklore category.

Its material is permanently growing and is bilingual (Spanish-English). Some of the sections are: "The Artists", with a detail of musicians, poets, singers and dancers; "The Library" where you can find journal chronicles, discographies, lyrics, sheet music and a dictionary of lunfardo (slang); "Carlos Gardel" with a large amount of material about his persona and work; "The Radio" with the playback of the program "Siempre el Tango" conducted by Nestor Pinsón on Radio Nacional AM, on Saturdays from 7 to 9 PM; "The Selection" where visitors can enjoy the best city music that can be heard on RealAudio or MP3.

Its director is Ricardo García Blaya, and its designer, Jorge Vilas.

The ceremony of prize delivery was held on last November 17, at the Auditorium Room of the Consejo Profesional de Ciencias Económicas (Professional Council of Economic Sciences)of the Federal Capital.
