The day Gardel sang for the first time

* Today we commemorate the day the Zorzal Criollo was born
* And it is the National Day of Tango
* In the Web, his biography and songs, lyrics and the sheet music of his tangos

On a day like today a baby was born, he later was known as Carlos Gardel, a symbol of tango.

But historians do not agree on the date Gardel was born.
That might have happened 110 years ago in Toulouse, France, and he was christened as Charles Romuald Gardés. And he might have arrived at the area of Corrientes and Agüero when he was two years and a half old, where he spent his childhood, and because of that he was later known as the Morocho del Abasto.

At least, this is what the chronicles, like the one found in the most comprehensive site Todo Tango, say (http://www.todotango.com.ar), which besides a biography of Gardel and other musicians offers tangos in MP3 y Real Audio formats, photos of the period, articles about different aspects of Gardel's life, lyrics and sheet music of a great number of tangos and a dictionary of lunfardo.

This is the page that gives most thorough information about Carlos Gardel.
