The orchrestra intends to recreate the best moments of the great orchrestras from the 30’and 40’s. with their expressivitie and technical skill. The rerpertoir contains basically classic tangos of great tango composers, as Julio De Caro, Pedro Laurenz, Agustín Bardi y Eduardo Arolas. With four bandoneones, four violins, piano and contrabass, the orchrestra contributes to create the style and sound of tango’s golden age.

Created by Joaquín Amenábar with his bandoneón students in 1999, the orchrestra performs in public for the first time in October 2000 in Centro Cultural General San Martin in Buenos Aires. Since then, the orchrestra has performed within other places, as: Bolsa de Comercio de Buenos Aires, 3er Congreso Internacional de Tango Argentino, Centro Cultural del Sur and many “milongas”of Buenos Aires.

Joaquín Amenábar, founder, conductor and first bandoneón, studied bandoneon with Rodolfo Daluisio in the conservatory Manuel de Falla (Buenos Aires, Argentina) where he graduated as Bandoneon Professor. At the present he is a bandoneon teacher at the conservatory and also in the Popular Folk Music School of Avellaneda, province of Buenos Aires.

He plays not only in the orchrestra but also bandoneon solo concerts of tango and classic and contemporary music in Argentina, USA, Germany, Italy, Austria and Australia, where he also gives seminaires on style and orchrestration for tango music and classes on bandoneón writing for composers.
