Jorge Sabato
(4 June 1924 - 16 November 1983)

His profession: physicist, his trade: researcher, his vocation: free man. His intellectual activity reached beyond the national milieu and since the late sixties he impregnated and guided the researchers in the problem of the scientific and technological development of Latin America. He was member of the Comisión Nacional de Energía Atómica (National Board of Atomic Energy) and of numerous international institutes. He was a fan of Gardel, Artaud, the Comandante Prado, Joyce, Arolas, Gramsci, the Malevo Muñoz, Dostoiesvski, Arlt, Joyce, Cary, the Camerata Bariloche, Dante Panzeri, Vivaldi, fond of soccer played in the streets, rice stew, sport jackets, “foratti” with tuco (meat sauce) and siesta; in sum, a fan of authenticity and a staunch enemy of solemnity and mediocrity.
