was te was born in La Plata (capital of the province of Buenos Aires) and died in Buenos Aires. He was author of a great number of theatrical works that encompassed all the genres.

His first play, Mala vida, was premiered on July 7, 1911 by the company headed by Ulises Favaro. Others followed this one, over two hundred, in which the dexterity of a man who found his craft onstage is more brilliant than the values of his oeuvre as a true creation. Anyway, that repertory includes two deserving titles: Judío (1926) and Burro de carga (1941).

Ivo Pelay also wrote many lyrics for tango, with scarce imagination and with superfluous, vicious phrases but, on some occasions, spiced with a genuine, clean local grace. His prolific stage of collaboration with Francisco Canaro is outstanding.
