There is no doubt that his forty years in the music milieu were successful. At least, his number "Yes, We Have No Bananas" spread worldwide to great acclaim. He composed it to match the lyrics written by Irving Cohn and the Argentine version by Pedro Numa Córdoba was committed to record by Carlos Gardel under the title "Poupée de Stambul".

Silver was born in Boston (Massachusetts) on September 8, 1896 and died in New York on June 14, 1960.
