t age 13 he made his debut in Gualeguaychú, where he was based with his parents, with a classical orchestra that was put together in that city of the province of Entre Ríos.

When he settled in Buenos Aires he continued with academic music, and made his first appearance at the Majestic Cinema Theater (later Paramount) with a musical aggregation of that genre.

Thereafter, linked to the show business milieu, he joined the orchestras that played at the Casino, Maipo and Sarmiento theaters for the seasons of the great revues directed by Manuel Romero, Luis Bayón Herrera and Ivo Pelay.

He conducted the staff orchestra of Radio Prieto for over twenty years during the best times of that radio station and accompanied great singers with worldwide recognition like Carlo Buti, Angelillo, Gloria Fortuny, Conchita Piquer, María Antinea in Buenos Aires and on tours throughout the interior of the country and abroad.

His early music pieces, a tarantella concerto and a capriccio waltz, were written in 1922. For tango he composed two numbers, “Lirio azul” for orchestra and “Machete” which is included in this work.

While he was working at the Majestic (1921) he was acquainted with the Gardel-Razzano duo. After that he kept a close friendship with them, so much so that when José Razzano got some tango lines by Jorge Curi, he turned to him so that he would write its music. It was “Machete” that Razzano, firstly, would commit to record and, later, Carlos Gardel recorded.

The unforgettable Carlitos entrusted him with a personal document which he carefully kept all his life long, even though interested people tried to get it.

Basadoni was born in Fray Bentos (Uruguay) on June 25, 1900 and passed away in Buenos Aires on July 26, 1981.
