In 1932 he was summoned by Carlos Gardel for writing the music of the movies La casa es seria and Melodía de arrabal which were shot in Joinville, near Paris. The music was written in collaboration with another good composer, José Sentis, and Gardel himself.

He composed the music of the song “Cuando tú no estás” in collaboration with Gardel and lyrics by Mario Battistella and Alfredo Le Pera for the movie Melodía de Arrabal. («The celebrated maestro», said Gardel referring to him).

He kept a warm memory of our singer, due to the friendship forged during the filming, for the rest of his days and he expressed that memory to every Argentine he got in touch with.
