CARLOS GARDEL sky-rocketing career was cut short when he lost his life in a plane crash in June 24, 1935, in Medellin, Colombia , South America ...An orgy of grief swept in two Continents...women committed suicide...hordes of people thronged to pay respect as the singer's body made the journey from Colombia to its final resting place in Buenos Aires...After his death, millions of admirers keep the legend blazing...playing Gardel's music daily and placing a lit cigarette in the hand of a life-sized statue which graces his tomb at the Chacarita Cementery in Buenos Aires and keeping his films and his hundreds of recordings, in circulation...(copied from "Gardel...Gardel.."
